How many generations will you find?
We don’t know that beforehand, and we don’t promise a number. It depends on what the archives hold. In Switzerland the parish registers often reach far back, in other regions less far. You get everything that can be documented, and a list of where it could go on.
What if something is wrong?
Then write to us. If a source was misread or your family knows better than the records, we correct it free of charge for as long as the website is online. What the sources don’t give, though, we cannot add.
Basis or Max?
Basis searches the freely accessible sources: civil registers, parish registers on FamilySearch and Matricula, newspaper archives, state archives. Max goes further: paid platforms such as Archion and Ancestry, the side branches, the correspondence with archives in your name, and at the end we enter every person into an online family tree, for example on FamilySearch. Only deceased people go there, and only with your consent. Both packages include the website, the book, our note, the copy for home with GEDCOM and the letters to archives.
Will it be ready for Christmas?
If you order by 10 December, yes. After that you order a voucher. It comes at once as a PDF, and the person you give it to redeems it whenever they like. Vouchers never expire.
How do I get the result?
As soon as your family history is finished, we send you an email with the link. Everything is then in your account on this website: you open the website and download the book, the GEDCOM file and the letters to archives. Nothing comes by post.
What do you need to start?
Names, rough birth years and places of your grandparents, of your great-grandparents too if you know them, and for Swiss families the place of origin. Plus whatever is told in the family. About living people we need only the names that form the start.
Who does the research? Can I see your work?
One person reads every source and writes every page; nobody else touches your family’s file. You can watch that work: on Reddit, as u/full_poulet, we answer strangers’ genealogy questions in public and for free, each answer with the records we found and their sources.

Do you work with artificial intelligence?
Yes, for searching. Old newspapers have been digitised by the hundreds of thousands of pages; tools with artificial intelligence help us find the right passages in them. The reading, checking and writing is done by a person: nothing goes into the book before one of us has seen the source. Every fact on your website has a source you can look up yourself. Nothing is invented.
Does the website stay online?
Yes. You see it after signing in to your account, and you invite the relatives who should see it too. You also get a copy for home that runs without the internet, and the data as GEDCOM for any family-tree program.
In which languages?
The website comes in five languages: German, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, all on the same website. We write the book in one of them, the language you choose. We read sources in German, English and French; a little Italian, Spanish and Mandarin is enough for some sources.
Where can I order from?
From Switzerland, the EU, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and most other countries. You pay by card, in francs, euros, pounds or dollars; from Switzerland also with TWINT.
